Abbotts Harbour Light House Kit

This Abbotts Harbour Light House yarn kit is an ideal way for a beginner rug hooker to start. Everything you require to hook the light house picture is in the kit except for the frame or hoop to hold the design. In the finishing, you might like to add a soft rope to go around the edges. This traditional "pepperpot" light was built in 1922 to guide local fighing boats into Lobster Bay and Abbotts Harbour. Before the light house was built, a local fisherman would stand on the shore below his fish shed, waving a lantern to help vessels into port. Endangered roseate terns nest on an nearby island and can be seen from the lighthouse. Directions: From Exit 31 on Highway 103, or on Route 3, take Route 335, 5.2 km (3.2 mi.) Just before the Red Cap Motel, turn right onto Abbotts Harbour Road, 1 km (0.6 mi) to the lighthouse, parking in front of the gate. There are picnic tables in the park. Enjoy this seaside adventure.
