Brier Island Light House
Brier Island Light House is located on Brier Island, Digby County, Nova Scotia.  This Island is well known for bird and whale watching.  Great place to visit. This light house design can be used as a rug or a light house pictorial.  Screened printed on quality burlap and it is a primitive design. The Brier Island light is one of Nova Scotia's oldest light house sites, established in 1809.  The present red-and-white striped tower replaced an 1832-vintage structure, which burned to the ground in 1944 after spilled kerosene caught fire.  Excellent spot to have a picnic and watch for whales, dolphins, and porpoises. Enjoy "nature based" Brier Island Lodge. Brier Island is a bird watchers paradise. To view Brier Island light, turn left from the ferry dock, drive 0.6 km (0.4mi. Turn right onto Wellington Street, drive 0.7 km (0.5 mi.). Where pavement ends turn left onto a gravel road at the sign for Western Light, and travel 3.7 km (2.3mi.) to the light house. This light house has an alarm that goes off and can damage your ears so use caution.
