Now just for fun let's set up a bouquet of flowers and put a strong light on it coming from the right.
Dim the light in the background, the darker the better to create
stronger values.
Now we have a couple of choices:
1. We can draw in pencil the bouquet putting in a 6 value scale of light to dark for each flower and leaf in
the bouquet plus the vase. Pay particular attention to the way the light hits the vase as this will add special interest
to the overall effect.
OR
2. You can take a close up with your camera of the flowers plus the vase. Have the picture
blown up so you can see where the light hits plus the shadows. Trace off the picture and pencil in the values you
see from 1 to 6 in a grey scale.
Next for both 1 & 2, scale to the required desired dimensions and transfer to the backing
of your
choice.
NOTE: If you only have a few flowers in a simple vase and make the pictorial large, it would be suitable
for primitive hooking with values. Very striking!
For fine detail of a large bouquet a #3 or #4 would give you the most detail.
