This sample picture is a guide line only.

Choose your own mauves and blues to recede
and remember to put hints of the same color
in different parts of the pictorial to create
color harmony.  Use some of your darkest
values to guide the eye through out the pictorial.

Keep the sky color light and hook in a calm
manner as there is so much action in the
foreground.  A restful area is necessary.

1. The light source is from the left, so the
lightest value on the trees will be on the left
hand side and gradually become the darkest
value on the right.  It is up to the individual
to decide how many value of each color
they want.  For primitive hooking at least
a 3 value swatch would be recommended.

For cuts #3 to #5 a 4-5 value swatch
would be recommended.

Dyed yarn can also be used successfully
and so can recycled plaids, actually you
can use any mix that takes your fancy as
it is only going on the wall.

2.  For the actual flower beds, hook the tops
lighter, then medium to dark as the light is not
that strong at the base of the plants.

3.  Try to put the yellow gold's close to the
mauve but in lesser amounts so they won't
fight each other for attention. Compliments
should range 70% of one color(dominant)
and less than 30% of its compliment.

4.  Play darks against lights to create form
and excitement.

The bright colors and lively shapes and
edges keep the viewer's eye traveling around
your garden.

5.  This pattern has both horizontals and
verticals lines which represent serenity and
quiet.  In this case, they help to create the
natural beauty of your garden.

6.  Notice the diagonals, zigzags and curving
lines are lines of action and suggest
something exciting is going on in your garden.

7.  Please don't struggle with this pictorial.
You are creating an "impression" mainly from
your light source and knowledge of fiber art.

It's like doing a watercolor, "Let It Flow".

Enjoy and may you create many more fiber
art impressions.
