"The Happy Skaters" in Mixed Fibers

 "The Happy Skaters"

This just for "fun" pattern was created to make one
smile and lift the spirits.  All the rovings and yarns are
hand dyed and spun here in Nova Scotia.

The hooking for the sky was done in different
values and colors of 100% mixed cut mohair rovings.

The roving was separated and stretched slightly
into smaller thinner strips to be suitable for the rug
 hook.

The background and foreground were completed in
hand dyed McWorsty yarn 50/50 wool mohair.

The snowmen were completed in hand carded
bats blended with crystal mylar 90% mohair 10%
mylar.  Bland Radieux gives a sparkle that looks like
snow in the sunlight.

The hats and scarves were done in Justun Lopi yarns.
Justun Lopi yarns are 60% mohair 40% wool, they add
texture to your fiber art, and are simply beautiful to rug hook.

The border was done in raw carded fleece which was
stretched lightly in length to hook.  This method creates beautiful wide loops.

"The Happy Skaters" is a happy fiber art piece
that was most enjoyable to hook.
