Japanese Rug Exhibition

Chizuko lives in Tokyo, Japan.  She has been
rug hooking for more than 16 years. The
exhibition, pictured above, was held in
December 2006 at the Artbook & Cafe in downtown
Tokyo.  Inside the store there is a
gallery where she organized and presented the
Christmas rugs created by her 30 students and
herself.

"Hydrangeas" by Chizuko Hayami

She hooked "Hydrangeas"  4 years ago
and is one of her favorites.

Chizuko is a member of our Rug
Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia and will be
attending classes here in Truro this May.

Chizuko would like to share a tip she has
for her beginners:

"I think everything has it's own flowing
direction and that is very important. .

When you hook something, you should think
about it's own direction.

For example, when you hook "sky", sky has
the horizontal flowing direction.  So we
choose to make the loops horizontally."
