 Dying Tips

To dye wool to different intensities of one color,
you require pieces of wool of the same type, size
and weight.

To use a variety of wools at one time, try to marry
them together to achieve a range of values.
This works well to create movement.

If you want to repeat your dyeing, it is crucial to
use the same amount of wool to same amount of dye
measured.  It is best to keep records with examples.

Also if dyeing for a large project, it is strongly
recommended that you dye the right amount all at
the same time.  It is most difficult to obtain the
exact color at a later date.  The difference can be
in the water or the dye mix, etc.

A simple means to dye larger amounts is multiply by
2, 3, etc. and increase your amount of wool.  Also
you can take 1 cup of the dye recipe (if you multiplied
by 2) and do half of your wool in one bath and half in
another. This method will create a more even color, if
that is what you want.
